Katarína Kaanová

born in 1984                                                                                                                   

Katarína studied classical ballet at the Eva Jaczová Dance Conservatory in Bratislava and graduated from it in 2003. In the same year she became a member of Slovak National Theatre Ballet (SND). Her talent has developed gradually and in 2009 she became a demi-soloist and in 2010 a soloist of this company.            

She danced many solo roles in classical repertory as: Swan Lake (Grand Swans), Nutcracker (Snow Queen, Dew Drop, Spanish dance), La Bayadère (Gamzatti, Pas de quatre), La Sylphide (Effie), Sleeping Beauty (Fairy Genteness, Stones), Le Corsaire (Odalisque), Grand pas classique from the ballet Raymonda (First Variation), Serenade ( Dark Angel) among others. 

Her neoclassical roles at the SND include parts in pieces by several choreographers like Etiѐne Frey Midsummer Night’s Dream (Hermia), Tamás Juronics – The Wooden Prince (Dickens), Ján Ďurovčík Spartacus, Bearskin (Princess), Igor Holováč Don Juan (Conchita), Caligula, A Bug  was Born  (Butterfly), Libor Vaculík – Ivan the Terrible, James Kudelka – Four Seasons.

In modern choreographies by Jiří Kylián (Un Ballo, Six dances), Lukáš Timulák (Real Time), James Kudelka (15 Heterosexual Duets) as well as in several pieces by Mário Radačovský (Warhol – Utraviolet, Encounter with a Swan, Everest, Change, 68) she proved that she is a dancer of versatile talent.

With the SND Ballet she went on many tours abroad (China, Canada, Italy, Hungary, France, Germany, Austria, Romania, Czech Republic).
