Mgr. Miroslava Kovářová, ArtD.
Miroslava Kovářová graduated from the University of Economics in Bratislava and the Academy of Music and Performing Arts – Department of Dance. She started her career as a dancer, choreographer and teacher in Slovak contemporary dance ensembles. She continued her education, spending time on scholarships in the USA, France and Germany.
In 1989 – 1991 she worked as a ballet-master of the Slovak National Theatre Ballet, later she cooperated with Nova Scéna Theatre as a choreographer. Since 1993 she has taught contemporary dance at the Department of Dance of the Academy of Music and Performing Arts. She regularly teaches abroad (in Austria, the Czech Republic, Moldova, Finland, Poland, Norway). As a choreographer, she has cooperated with the following theatres – the Slovak National Theatre, Nová Scéna Theatre, Astorka – Korzo 90, the Theatre for Children and Youth in Trnava, The Andrej Bagar Theatre in Nitra and with the Slovak Television.
In 1996 – 2000 Miroslava Kovářová was chair of the Contemporary Dance Association, and since 1997 she has served as artistic and executive director of the international contemporary dance festival Bratislava in Movement and since 2000 she has headed the Bratislava in Movement Association. Miroslava represents Slovakia in the international Aerowaves network, in recent years she has managed several projects in the field of contemporary dance.
In 2002 – 2006 she studied the Feldenkrais Method in the Feldenkrais® International Training Program Wien III.
Miroslava Kovářová was chief dramaturge of Ballet of the Slovak National Theatre in the years 2006 – 2010.
