Alexa Capareda

born in 1991

Alexa was born in the Philippines where she started her ballet training at the age of 7. Later from 2003-2005 she attended the Philippine High School for the Arts as a ballet major. Alexa continued her dance training upon coming to the United States in 2005. In 2007, Alexa was selected to participate in the Ballet Austin Trainee Program wherein she trained under Ballet Austin’s artistic director Stephen Mills. During her 3 seasons with Ballet Austin, Alexa had the opportunity to perform with the company in Ballet Austin’s productions of Stephen Mills’ The NutcrackerFirebird and Coppelia. She also danced in various original classical and contemporary works by Reginald Harris, Kimmary Williams, Thaddeus Davis, Greg Easley, Jennifer Hart, Michelle Thompson, and Nick Kepley. From 2007 to 2010, concurrent with her professional dance training, Alexa attended the University of Texas in Austin to pursue a B. A. degree in English.

She has attended summer intensive programs of the American Ballet Theater, Ballet Austin, and most recently, the Ecole Superieure de Ballet Contemporain de Montreal (ESBCM).

Alexa was in the Dance Study Program of the Ecole Superieure de Ballet Contemporain de Montreal (ESBCM) in Montreal, Canada for the 2010-2011 school year and performed with Le Jeune Ballet du Quebec in works by Gioconda Barbuto, Shaun Hansell, and Jean-Louis Morin. She performed as a guest soloist with Montreal’s Ballet Ouest in the company’s 2010 production of The Nutcracker.

Alexa is currently on leave from academic studies while pursuing her professional dance career.
